Your split-second decision-making could lead to a career in air traffic services. Join a team of professionals responsible for one of the most demanding and rewarding careers in aviation. As an Air Traffic Controller at NAV CANADA, you'll direct the movement of aircraft through Canadian airspace, making real-time decisions that keep passengers, crews, and cargo moving safely every day. No aviation background is required. What matters is the right mindset. Here's what to expect. After applying online, you'll complete a 30-minute online assessment, followed by an in-person testing session that evaluates cognitive abilities including memory, spatial reasoning, and information processing. From there, successful candidates move through a pre-screening interview and a half-day assessment centre. A conditional offer includes a criminal record check, medical examination, drug screening, and Government of Canada security clearance. Once hired, you'll train full-time in classrooms, simulators, and on the job for 10 to 27 months depending on your stream. Tower controller training typically runs 10 to 18 months; ACC (en route) controller training runs 20 to 27 months. Throughout, you'll earn a training salary of over $58,000, and you'll be supported by dedicated instructors and peer programs every step of the way. Flexibility on location is an important part of building an ATC career. Tower controllers are assigned on-the-job training locations based on operational needs, which may mean relocating to one of 42 tower locations across Canada. ACC controllers train and work at one of seven area control centres: Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, Moncton, or Gander. The reward matches the commitment. Licensed tower controllers earn $100,000 and up, while licensed ACC controllers earn $140,000 and up. You'll also receive shift and location premiums, a defined benefit pension, and a comprehensive benefits package. If you have a high school diploma, Canadian citizenship or permanent residency, and the drive to earn one of aviation's most respected licences, we'd love to hear from you.

Your crisis management skills could lead to a career in air traffic services. Join a team of professionals responsible for one of the most demanding and rewarding careers in aviation. As an Air Traffic Controller at NAV CANADA, you'll direct the movement of aircraft through Canadian airspace — making real-time decisions that keep passengers, crews, and cargo moving safely every day. NAV CANADA controllers work in towers, terminal control units, and en route centres across the country, using advanced radar and communications systems to manage some of the most complex airspace in the world. No two shifts are the same, and the work requires sharp focus, sound judgment, and the ability to perform under pressure. You'll need to communicate precisely and confidently, and work well as part of a team. To be considered, you'll need proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency. You'll also need a secondary school diploma or equivalent, and successful completion of the ATC aptitude assessment. Strong English communication skills are essential, and bilingual skills are an asset. We provide full training through the NAV CANADA Training Institute, so you don't need prior ATC experience to apply. What you do need is the aptitude, the mindset, and the drive to earn one of the most respected licences in aviation. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, flexible work arrangements and plenty of opportunities for growth and development.
