Canada’s Bold Conservation Project: A strategic investment in our future Canada’s boreal forest is one of the world’s most powerful climate assets: a natural system that safeguards the water, air, and climate stability communities and industries rely on. When these systems erode, so do economies. NCC is moving urgently to secure 90,000 hectares of boreal forest ensuring this global carbon storehouse remains protected forever. For donors and corporate partners, this is more than philanthropy—it’s a strategic investment helping Canada grow responsibly while protecting what matters most. Benefits of your investment: • Safeguard freshwater systems and natural flood protection • Strengthen community resilience and advance reconciliation • Help mitigate climate change on a global scale Your leadership can make the difference. Big, bold, and boreal: Protecting 90,000 more hectares of Canada’s boreal forest In 2022, NCC protected Boreal Wildlands, 145,000 hectares of boreal forest, wetlands, rivers and creeks in northern Ontario – the single-largest private land conservation project in Canadian history. Now, we can expand that impact through a new initiative: Taiga Forest and Peatlands—protecting an additional 90,000 hectares that safeguard clean water, climate stability, and habitat for wide-ranging mammals like wolf, lynx, moose, black bear and threatened caribou and hundreds of migratory bird species. By protecting this landscape, we strengthen climate stability, support Indigenous stewardship, and help build resilience in northern communities. Few countries can achieve conservation at this scale anymore. Canada still can—and with your leadership, we will. Read the Globe and Mail feature to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g2fe3FaG

Shape a Future of Global Climate Leadership Most people will never have the chance to help protect a climate system of global importance. Right now, you do. Canada’s boreal forest stores more carbon than any other terrestrial ecosystem on Earth. Protecting it strengthens our climate resilience, safeguards freshwater systems, and supports northern communities. NCC has an unprecedented opportunity to protect 90,000 more hectares of this landscape—but only if we act quickly. Bruce MacLellan, Founder and Chair of Proof Strategies and NCC donor for 35 years says it best: “Knowing that my gift is helping to protect one of the world’s largest carbon storehouses——gives me pride that Canada is helping our entire planet. These boreal projects are more than land; they are a global legacy for generations to come.” Read the Globe and Mail feature to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g2fe3FaG

Conservation works best when people and nature grow together. 🌾 The Nature Conservancy of Canada's newest project — protecting 646 hectares at Upper Bone Creek — builds on a legacy of stewardship in the Cypress Uplands of Saskatchewan. This project supports local ranchers who use grazing to keep grasslands healthy, benefiting wildlife, water, and livelihoods alike. A heartfelt thank-you to the land donor, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Cenovus Energy, and the Government of Saskatchewan for investing in a resilient future for people and wildlife. 🐂🦋

Recently, the Nature Conservancy of Canada announced the protection of nearly 350 hectares in the Frontenac Arch, a vital ecological corridor connecting the Algonquin Highlands to the Adirondack Mountains. This milestone is more than a land securement, it's a powerful example of what’s possible when strategic partnerships, long-term vision, and collective action come together to protect nature. These newly protected lands will: safeguard critical habitats, store carbon and support climate solutions, and strengthen connectivity for wildlife across borders. This achievement was made possible thanks to the generous support of: Environment and Climate Change Canada (Natural Heritage Conservation Program & Nature Smart Climate Solutions Fund) Environment, Conservation and Parks | Environnement, Protection de la nature et Parcs (Greenlands Conservation Partnership) Roots Grapes for Humanity Canada And many donors, partners, and champions of conservation who made this possible.
