“When we restore soil health, it’s also restoring the people,” shares #NatGeoExplorer Al Greeny S. Dewayanti, who is working alongside farming communities in Indonesia to regenerate exhausted soils, blending Indigenous knowledge with modern science and digital tools. Along with nine other Explorers, she’s unearthing the possibilities for a more sustainable food system, powered by regenerative agriculture. By blending rigorous science with compelling storytelling, these Explorers are digging into the future of food. From utilizing methods like controlled prairie burns and intercropping, to documenting generational knowledge, these scientists and storytellers are helping shape the way of tomorrow, today. This vital work is part of Food for Tomorrow, a collaboration between the National Geographic Society and PepsiCo. Explore more about the program: https://lnkd.in/eVcqKcre. 🌍🌾

The National Geographic Society and PepsiCo are collaborating on Food for Tomorrow, a new program that harnesses the power of science, storytelling and education to inspire positive change throughout the global food system. Food for Tomorrow will raise awareness around how regenerative agriculture can positively impact farmers, strengthen our food system and protect our planet — while empowering everyone to make more sustainable food choices. “We’re proud to fuel a global movement, rooted in science and hope, to help build a thriving future for generations to come,” shares Society CEO Jill Tiefenthaler. The collaboration combines National Geographic Society’s ability to educate and inspire action through the power of science and storytelling with PepsiCo’s deep food system expertise. Over the next year, the program is supporting five #NatGeoExplorers who will feature stories about farmers and communities to spotlight sustainable and regenerative practices in food production. The program is also funding up to five science-based projects through a call for proposals, and will develop a data visualization mapping tool to further educate on the topic of regenerative agriculture. As our planet faces unprecedented challenges, including the loss of precious wildlife and ecosystems, animals continue to adapt to their surroundings to find new ways to thrive. By learning more about wildlife and their intelligence, we can better understand the natural world. Inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall and the Templeton Prize, and launched with support from Templeton World Charity Foundation and the National Geographic Society, the Wildlife Intelligence Project follows #NatGeoExplorers Felicity Muth, Tiago Falótico and Mauricio Cantor as they provide deeper insights into animal minds, behaviors and decisions. Their research on bee cognition, how capuchin monkeys use tools and cooperation between dolphins and humans is advancing our understanding of wildlife intelligence.
