🎉 MSI is proud to launch our new 'Advancing Adolescent Access Framework' for sexual and reproductive health and rights. The framework is a practical guide that brings together what we've learned over the past decade of delivering adolescent services, plus the latest evidence-based best practice from across the sector. It focuses on five interconnected domains, which address the realities of young people's lives. Because adolescents don't make choices in isolation – the people and policies around them are hugely influential. That's why MSI teams not only engage with young people directly, but also with their local communities, schools, parents and governments. We advocate, inform, and deliver healthcare. How can you strengthen your own support for adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights? Download our guide to find out ⬇️ https://ow.ly/KbqU51010BN Thank you to all our partners helping drive this access for young people everywhere, for tomorrow's future.

Our Country Director for MSI Tanzania, Patrick Kinemo, spoke to NPR about the contraception shortage in Tanzania, and its impact on women and girls – particularly given the legal restrictions around abortion. Tanzania was one of the countries impacted by the Trump administration's refusal to distribute nearly $10 million worth of contraceptives, which were left in a warehouse in Belgium. Patrick described how his heart sank when he heard that the life-saving contraceptives were being left to expire: "It's the fact that these had already been paid for and they were scheduled to come to us, but we couldn't convince the US government." 🎧 Listen to the conversation on NPR: https://lnkd.in/e9X-c3sH

Meet Divya, an MSI abortion provider in Nepal 💙 After the devastating floods along the Trishuli river, Divya is going to extraordinary lengths to deliver contraception, abortion and other vital healthcare to people who have been cut off from services. Reproductive healthcare is often deprioritised during crisis situations. But, as Divya says, "after a disaster like this, these services are essential." Access to contraception and abortion gives women agency over their own body when so much else is out of their control. Choice is power. ✊ This #ChoiceWeek, join us in celebrating the power of reproductive choice. 🌍 26th Sept – World Contraception Day 💙 28th Sept – International Safe Abortion Day When a woman can choose if or when to become pregnant, she has the power to control her own future. The power to grow, learn and lead. But around the world, millions of women and girls are denied reproductive choice, forcing them down paths they didn’t choose. And with attacks on reproductive rights on the rise, it’s more important than ever that we defend reproductive freedom. That's why this Choice Week, MSI will be at the UN General Assembly in New York, reminding world leaders of the power of reproductive choice. And if you're in New York, swing by the junction of 45th St and 2nd Avenue to see our 'pillboard'. Share this post to raise awareness of the power of reproductive choice. 📢 ➡️ Learn more about Choice Week on our website: https://lnkd.in/eMyukfUT

This is the story of a Nigerian woman, the government nurse who changed her life with contraception, and the MSI trainer who made it possible. ⬇️ In Nigeria, millions of women can’t access modern contraceptive options. Making these services available through the public health system is the best option for long-term change. Around the world, social norms have a powerful effect on reproductive choice ⬇️ Misinformation about contraception and abortion. Fears about confidentiality and questions of trust. Backlash from communities. All of these barriers impact choice. MSI’s social and behaviour change (SBC) approach begins by understanding social barriers like these and designing tailored approaches to overcome them. ➡️ Learn more about our approach and read case studies on our SBC webpage: https://lnkd.in/etnsJR6v
