Every block on this card came up on our calls with companies this year. Which one would you fix first? If you work with global contractors, you can probably cross off a few if not most. And for us, a contractor operations platform, this kind of admin is our day job.

A few months ago, a client messaged me with a nightmare: a freelancer was bombarding him with messages. He made threats about intellectual property and even wrote to the client's clients, claiming his IP rights had been violated so he awaits some royalties. He even flew across Europe to report to the local police in person. That’s not a rare situation. If you are part of the gamedev community, you might have heard about the Imagos Softworks or Tiny Bunny cases. In both of them composers claimed the developers owed them millions of dollars for using their compositions once the games became popular. If you don’t want to end up in a situation like this run a quick check: 1. Which company is named as the buyer of rights in the contract? 2. Can you find a contract, act and payment for one person within an hour? 3. Does your contract say “assigns” or “grants the right to use”? 4. Does your deliverables link include sources, sketches and iterations? 5. Do you know what in the current build was generated or taken from a stock? Feel free to DM me if you want to learn in more detail what a proper IP rights transfer should look like. OR Book a demo with our team: https://lnkd.in/eiQPs6qk P.S. With that client, we sent the freelancer the relevant clause from the contract he had signed. The messages stopped.

You can run Mellow straight from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor. Connect Mellow MCP and just type what you need: • “Invite [email protected] and create a task: logo design, €200, due April 20” • “Which tasks are overdue?” • “Create tasks from this Excel file” • “Show September transactions and download the invoices" • “Find me a senior backend developer, remote, $40-60/hour” Anything that involves money waits for you confirmation — you have full control over that. Details and setup guide: https://lnkd.in/dXF4t83g What's one contractor management task you'd like to be free of?

At this year's gamescom dev I realised almost everyone I talked to is dealing with the exact same headache 😀 I had around 30 conversations with gaming companies about how they work with international contractors, and in about 20 of them, the same topic came up: paying people across different countries. Sounds straightforward. But when you get into it... different currencies and payment methods, local requirements, contracts, invoices and all the supporting documents on top. Companies end up with contractors in 3, 10, sometimes 20+ countries, each with its own rules, and this turns into a very complex process. So from what I see, hiring contractors is not the hard part. It's everything that comes after that becomes a major challenge. Of course, every company handles this a bit differently. But that's basically the whole reason Mellow exists — we help companies handle contractor onboarding, contracts, international payments and all the paperwork, in one place instead of using 5 tools. If this sounds familiar, happy to show you how it works — book a demo and we'll walk you through it. https://lnkd.in/ePfmkBwj
