𝐆𝐒𝟏 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐏𝐏. 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐞. GS1 Digital Link encodes a product's GS1 identifiers directly into a standard URL: whatever GS1 key the operator needs, a GTIN for a product, a GIAI for a fixed asset, a GRAI for something reusable, plus a batch or lot number, a serial number, whatever level of granularity the operator builds into that code. The GS1 Resolver redirects that URL to one or more linked sources, what GS1 calls a linkset, built to serve different business use cases: a consumer-facing page, a compliance record, a logistics endpoint, all from the same scan. EPCIS traces the product's entire lifecycle: every event tied to that same identifier, from sourcing and manufacturing through storage, distribution, use, and recycling, timestamped and logged as it happens. CBV, the Core Business Vocabulary, is what makes those EPCIS events actually mean something across companies: a shared list of what shipped, received, or recalled means, so two businesses reading the same identifier aren't guessing. CIRPASS-2's reference architecture treats these four as pieces of one system, not independent choices. None of them make interoperability legally required on their own. Follow for the next post: GS1 Digital Link, the standard that turns a GTIN, a GRAI, or a GIAI into the URL a resolver can act on. #DigitalProductPassport#DPP #ESPR #GS1 #DigitalLink #EPCIS #Interoperability

𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 #𝟑 𝐚𝐥𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞: 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐄𝐑𝐏, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭, 𝐏𝐋𝐌, 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦, 𝐧𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. KPMG's 2026 survey confirms it: DPP implementation means managing far larger volumes of product and component data than before, and keeping it consistent across all four systems is already a substantial operational challenge. 61 percent of companies still have not decided whether to build or buy a DPP solution. 34 percent have already picked an external vendor. Different teams are making that call independently, often for the same underlying product data. Cross-functional alignment ranks among the top implementation challenges. KPMG's own recommendation: closer collaboration across Legal, Compliance, Sustainability, Procurement, Internal Audit and IT, the exact functions usually running separate systems. Same pattern as mistakes #1 and #2. The EU built one registry, pointed to one identifier standard, and companies keep adding new systems, ERP, procurement, PLM, compliance, and whatever comes next, without ever mapping them back to it. The mistake was never needing multiple systems. It is letting each team pick its own instead of mapping what already needs to connect. That closes this series' first three mistakes. Next post: who's actually allowed to hold that shared data once it exists. #DigitalProductPassport #DPP #ESPR #Compliance #DataGovernance #GS1
