Being a top client can make all the difference. At Kimley-Horn, EVERYONE, not just senior leaders, is incentivized to ensure that clients receive the best possible service. ALL team members have a significant personal financial stake in their client's success. We prioritize training emerging leaders to step up and lead projects sooner, so our clients can get the responsiveness they need. We want all our clients to feel like they’re the top client and CLIENTS ARE HAPPIER WHEN (1) THEY ARE A BIG-TIME CLIENT FOR THAT TEAM and (2) their team’s personal interests are aligned with their client’s. IT'S NOT AN ACCIDENT that our clients continue to hire us at a rate that outpaces our competitors—they simply prefer a better experience. Do you know how your consultant team members incentivized? Do they have a personal stake in your project’s success? #clientservice #kimleyhorn #consulting #alignedincentives

Whether the work involves manufacturing pharmaceuticals or researching medical marvels, we are committed to helping engineer the future of life sciences! 🔍 I first started working on life science projects in Raleigh alongside Josh Griffin, and the fascinating research I encountered inspired me to move out West and pursue more work in this space. Now, I’m still passionate about supporting pivotal research and infrastructure—learning what practitioners in the field do so that I can help create workable structures that are unique to client needs and improve people’s quality of life. My team just wrapped up a huge life science project in the Pacific Northwest and won a multi-million dollar contract with another client in that region! If you need a trusted partner in your next life science project, I would love to help make your next vision a reality. #LifeScience #West #Structural

Since [well before] 1992... This 1992 article describes a key pillar to Kimley-Horn’s long-term success: Practice Builders. This is Kimley-Horn’s term for those who (a) bring in the work, (b) serve clients & deliver projects, (c) manage project budgets and (d) mentor their team members. Our entire firm is organized around supporting Practice Builders (not the inverse) – because those Practice Builders are closest to the front lines. The coolest part – Practice Building is even stronger today as it was in 1992 (or in 1967 when this all started). If you are a practitioner at another firm, how well is your firm focused on supporting you? If you’re a client, do the people serving you have the full focus of their firm in supporting your success? 150+/- senior practitioners will join Kimley-Horn as Practice Builders this year – maybe you should be one of them… #PracticeBuilders #ClientService #CareerOpportunity #BusinessGrowth #FrontLineLeaders #KimleyHorn

“I think what Joe meant to say just now was [insert a rephrase that will better make my point and also help keep my foot out of my mouth].” Sometimes my passion and transparent style can veer off the rails and I say something which, in hindsight, I would have rephrased. To mitigate this liability of a strength, I often ask my fellow leaders or co-presenters to use this tool if they ever see me getting too far off message. It usually makes the room laugh, dissipates ruffled feathers and leads to greater audience engagement from the display of vulnerability. Try it the next time you see a close partner say something they might wish they could rephrase. And if you, like me, are occasionally prone to speaking first and thinking second, ask for partners to use this tool. Thankfully, my partners don’t need to do this very frequently but I always appreciate when they do! #LeadershipTips #CommunicationSkills #VulnerabilityInLeadership #LeadershipStories #EffectiveCommunication #KimleyHorn
