There was a time when cooling was treated as a side cost in a data center project. The hardware carried most of the weight in the conversation, and cooling followed somewhere behind. That picture has changed. As energy prices have risen and IT use has grown at scale, energy consumption has become a much more defining factor in how data centers are designed and operated. That shift has also changed the way cooling systems need to perform. KC Projects started with 300 kW units for data centers that housed around 2 to 3 MW of IT capacity, which at the time was considered substantial. Today, that same range sits at the smaller end of the market, while projects now move toward 40, 50 or 100 MW and beyond. In AI data centers, the numbers are growing even further, which means cooling infrastructure has to grow with them in a practical and reliable way. That is why our units today reach capacities of up to 1200 kW each. For KC Projects, scaling up has never been about making things bigger for the sake of it. It is about staying aligned with what data centers now require in real-world operation. #DataCenterCooling #EnergyEfficiency #DataCenters

Three themes keep returning in conversations about data center cooling: reducing chemical substances, reducing water use, and minimizing electricity consumption. Those topics are closely connected, and they are pushing the market to rethink long-used cooling choices. As regulations tighten around traditional refrigerants because of their impact on GPW, ozone layer PFAS and the envioroment, the search for workable alternatives is becoming more urgent in real projects. That shift sounds straightforward on paper, but in practice it comes with trade-offs. Natural refrigerants such as CO2, ammonia, propane and butane each bring their own technical and safety considerations, which is exactly why this transition asks for careful engineering instead of quick answers. KC Projects can already offer a CO2-based solution, with an approach that is safe, proven and suitable for retrofit or conversion in certain situations. That matters for operators who want to move away from older refrigerants without starting from zero and taking on the cost of a full replacement. For KC Projects, this is what future-ready cooling looks like: practical choices that respond to changing regulations and operational reality. #DataCenterCooling #EnergyEfficiency #SustainableInfrastructure

The conversation around AI in data centers often starts with the chip. And that makes sense, because the heat profile is changing fast. Traditional data centers mainly rely on air cooling, while AI environments increasingly use direct-to-chip liquid cooling to handle a large share of the heat generated by these heavier computing loads. That still leaves part of the cooling challenge in the room itself. Based on current market developments shared with KC Projects, direct cooling handles around 80–85% of the heat, while the remaining heat still needs to be managed through air cooling. The liquid loop also needs to be cooled again once it leaves the server, which adds a second layer to the overall design question. This is exactly where the broader system view becomes important, especially in environments where efficiency and future-readiness have to go hand in hand. At KC Projects, we are prepared for that next step. We have solutions for both the remaining air cooling demand and the cooling of the liquid loop. For us, the main focus remains on making smart choices around efficiency and long-term performance. #DataCenterCooling #AIInfrastructure #EnergyEfficiency

A data center’s energy bill is rarely a side note. When the difference between 130 kilowatts and 150 kilowatts keeps coming back, hour after hour and year after year, efficiency quickly becomes part of the bigger business conversation. That is why PUE remains such an important metric in this market. It gives customers a clear way to look at how much electricity is needed in relation to the IT load, and it directly connects technical choices to operational cost. In practice, that means cooling is never only about keeping systems running within the right conditions. It is also about understanding how space, installation choices and electricity use together shape the total cost of a data center. At KC Projects, that cost perspective is always part of the conversation. Lower electricity use means lower operating costs, and that is exactly where energy-efficient data center cooling makes a real difference over time. It is a practical way of thinking that fits mission-critical environments: reliable in operation, careful with energy, and designed with the customer’s long-term reality in mind. Water is becoming a bigger part of the data center cooling conversation. In a market where efficiency is often linked to water evaporation, that discussion is only getting more relevant as organizations look ahead and weigh performance against long-term resource use. For KC Projects, that is a familiar part of the conversation with clients. The cooling principle behind the system is fundamentally water-free, because it is a dry system. In some situations, a water-based system can be more energy efficient, and that trade-off is part of the technical reality. At the same time, a water-free approach offers a clear future-facing advantage, which is one of the reasons more clients are deliberately choosing it today. That way of thinking fits how KC Projects approaches data center cooling as a whole: looking beyond today’s performance question and designing for reliability, practicality and what will still make sense tomorrow. A cooling system rarely starts with the cooling system. It starts much earlier, in the first concept phase, when decisions about layout, integration and long-term performance are still being made. That is exactly where KC Projects prefers to be involved. In data center cooling, timing matters, because units of up to 1,200 kW need to be properly integrated into the building to achieve the efficiency, ease of operation and reliability the end user is looking for. In practice, many projects begin the other way around: first the building takes shape, then the search for a system starts. KC Projects works from a different perspective, because the technical outcome depends heavily on choices made at the start. Even when an existing building is being converted into a data center, that early conversation remains important. According to Pedro, around 30% of completed projects have involved this kind of conversion, and those projects still benefit from aligning the cooling concept before the building layout is fixed. That early-stage thinking says a lot about how KC Projects works: practical, engineering-driven and focused on making the full system fit from day one.
