PMing is pretty straightforward, right? In biotech, not so much… but why? We’ve always been fans of community resources, so we put one together on the topic, to try and be helpful. Critical to the mission, yet often under [appreciated/leveraged/resourced], project and program managers are faced with huge challenge: manage “sprints” that take months, for programs that span years, with people obsessing over experiments not processes, generating insane amounts of data. Managing a highly complex, risky, and expensive engine while constantly making trade-offs, and fighting an uphill battle with people who “don’t have time” or who have “always done things X way and been ‘fine’.” Yet the companies that are making the most progress, especially during massive market headwinds like those of the last few years, are those that emphasize operational rigor and focus… and equip their PMs with the right support, budgets, and voice to drive this. We kicked off our guide with four initial chapters: 1. What makes Project Management Different in Biotech 2. The role of PMs and data in R&D project management 3. Project organization and planning 4. Data organization and change management The plan is to keep building on this over time, based on our observations, conversations, and work with tremendously exciting biotechs. If there’s something missing, something you’d like to see covered, or a perspective you’d like to share: comment below or shoot me a DM! To access the guide, comment “PM ME TO VICTORY” and I’ll send you a copy… jk, link here: https://lnkd.in/dpg_hEKB Special thanks to Kristien, Michelle, Alejandro, Jesse, and others who helped with perspectives, ideas, feedback, and edits!
