Over the next three weeks, I will be visiting three of the locations in our Global Delivery Centres: Skopje, Lisbon and Kuala Lumpur, and I will share a post from each stop. Trip 1 of 3 – Going to Skopje, North Macedonia The first stop was Skopje. There is something different about planning for growth when you are all in the same room. I spent last week in Skopje with our commercial organisation, bringing Sales and Marketing together to align on where we are going, what matters most, and how we work towards the same goal: the continued growth of INSCALE. Skopje is an interesting place to have those conversations. It has developed into the centre of North Macedonia’s growing technology sector, with much of the country’s software and ICT activity concentrated in the capital. Plans and KPIs are important. But the conversations around them, the different perspectives in the room and the shared understanding of where we are heading are what turn plans into progress. Thank you to the Skopje team for the energy, the discussions and the hospitality. A productive first stop, and a very good start to what comes next. Next up: Lisbon A few facts: - North Macedonia has around 1.8 million inhabitants, and roughly a third of them live in and around Skopje, the country's economic and tech hub. - The tech sector is built for international business. Most software and IT companies are export-oriented, and net ICT exports grew by 18% in 2023. - English skills are strong: North Macedonia ranks 17th out of 123 countries in the EF English Proficiency Index 2025. - A fast-growing talent pool: the number of ICT professionals almost doubled from 2018 to 2022, and continues to grow steadily. - Skopje shares a time zone with Copenhagen, and North Macedonia is a NATO member and an EU candidate country.

AI can write more code, but who makes sure that code is actually worth shipping? As AI speeds up development, the challenge is shifting from producing code to understanding it, reviewing it and taking responsibility for the result. And that could make experienced engineers, and the environment around them, more valuable than ever.
