What a week full of energy for microelectronics (Micro-E)! In recent industry events, the market vibrancy has shown everyone that Micro-E is one of the most critical enablers of modern progress, powering our smartphones, AI, and even space technology. 𝗥𝗲-𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 We co-hosted Power Electronics Innovation Across Asia with PCIM Asia Shanghai, creating a platform for researchers, Park companies and industry leaders to connect. Through showcases, seminars and business matching, we explored the potential for advanced semiconductors and high-efficiency power management to power real-world solutions across smart-grids, EVs and industrial automation. At a keynote speech, our CEO Terry Wong championed power electronics as a fundamental enabler of AI innovation, and how Hong Kong has a clear advantage for scaling semiconductor innovation with its strength in design-led microelectronics and access to pilot production facilities and scale-up infrastructure. 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗲 We were at the new Future Industries Zone of the Hong Kong Electronics Fair. Beyond setting up our pavilion, our microelectronics leaders also joined industry leaders and explained how our full chain infrastructure can support chip and device development, testing, pilot production and system integration. Our Park companies also showcased their solutions for accelerating 0-to-1 and 1-to-N industrialisation. The impact of Micro-E is anything but small. Home to 300+ Micro-E companies, we are proudly playing a key role in fuelling Hong Kong’s next wave of new industrialisation! Strengthening Swiss–Hong Kong Innovation We were delighted to welcome Dr Martina Hirayama, State Secretary of Switzerland’s State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation, together with a distinguished Swiss delegation of academic, research and innovation leaders to our Park! Swiss academia is already making a significant impact across Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem, under the InnoHK initiative. Leading Swiss universities, including ETH Zürich and EPFL, are working with Hong Kong institutions, contributing expertise in medical robotics, microelectronics, AI chips and sustainable technology across three InnoHK research centres based in our Park. Building on this strong foundation, the delegation met with Lillian Cheong, Under Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, and held a productive discussion with our CEO, Terry Wong, on deepening Switzerland–Hong Kong collaboration in: • Research and innovation • Talent development • Deep-tech commercialisation • Startup exchange The visit reaffirmed Hong Kong’s role as a super-connector, bridging East and West to advance technology development, research collaboration and innovation. Our sincere thanks to Swissnex and the Consulate General of Switzerland in Hong Kong & Macao for making this meaningful exchange possible. #HKSTP #InnovationNextByNature

AI is ushering in another radical era where anyone can turn curiosity into world-changing ideas – even without a lot of experience, resources or capital. In that spirit, Amazon Web Services (AWS)’s Future Builders event at our Park gathered AI talent and young innovators to gear up for this AI-powered future with hands-on training and a mind-opening pep talk from Amazon.com VP and CTO Dr Werner Vogels. To become a “Renaissance Builder,” he said, you must stay curious, take ownership, and “broaden your T” – go deep in your craft, but don’t stay in one lane. The future is envisioned in systems and our roles within them, so building knowledge across fields will enable us to fully harness the possibilities AI puts before us. Together with AWS, we also announced an upcoming upskilling programme under our “AI for All” Inclusive Programme - Talent Foundry to enhance skills across Generative and Agentic AI. Welcome to the Park. Every park has its star attraction, and in the world of tech, unicorns steal the show with their billion-dollar promise. To date, 14 unicorns have emerged from our Park, carrying the ambition and ingenuity of Hong Kong innovation onto the global stage. But zoom out and the full habitat comes alive. Beyond the unicorns is a whole menagerie balancing profit with purpose, thriving in tough markets, and defending profit with solid capital, each taking a different path to impact. As Hong Kong’s premier I&T orchestrator, we’re giving every kind of innovation room to roam. Our Park brings together deep-tech capabilities, routes to commercial scale, cross-border market access and a continuous pipeline of talent, helping innovations grow stronger and travel further. For our 25th anniversary, we linked up with multimedia creator Orange Terry to give Chinese chess a future-facing remix. Meet "The NEXT Move": a custom 3D-printed chess set inspired by Hong Kong’s classic shopfront metal gates. The set captures what happens when a gate opens: conversations start, ideas flow, and the neighbourhood comes alive. Traditional pieces marked by Chinese characters are reimagined through universal visual forms—with ears and a trunk, for example, just like an elephant. The set brings traditional craft and modern industrial technology together, turning every move into an exercise in foresight, collaboration and response. It echoes the spirit that has shaped our community of around 2,500 tech companies and 17,000+ researchers and continues to move us forward.
