𝗢𝗻 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗴𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗟𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻. No retailer’s systems were at fault. Every retailer with a queue felt it. Go back to that morning and count the minutes. The minutes before your IT team knew it wasn’t your kit. The minutes before your stores could tell customers, with confidence, to try another card. Then put a number on what you lost while both clocks were running. Most retailers have never done that sum for a third-party outage. It gets logged as someone else’s problem and closed. https://lnkd.in/dY7nnW6C

HelmCore has been shortlisted for 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗩𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 (𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱) at the 2026 Retail Technology Innovation Hub RTIH Innovation Awards. It’s a strong shortlist, full of names retail technology teams know well. Good company to be in. HelmCore for Retail gives multi-site retailers 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 of their estate. It correlates POS, network, IoT and energy signals, finds the root cause, and shows what each incident is costing while it’s happening. We call it Operational Impact Intelligence, and retail is where it starts. This is a testament to our team. Thank you to every one of them, and to RITH and the judges. Congratulations to our fellow finalists too. Winners are announced in London on 4 November. Wish us luck ! https://lnkd.in/dgws33ix #retailtechnology #retailIT #RTIHAwards #RTIHAwards26 #RetailInnovation

A site goes dark at 10pm. An engineer gets in the van. Two hours later, they arrive to fix something that takes two minutes. The fault was never the hard part. Getting someone in front of it was. I wrote about the gap most operational tooling misses, the distance between "𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴'𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴" and "𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗶𝘁", and why closing it matters more as an estate grows past a handful of sites. https://lnkd.in/dQZm8guN

“𝗔 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱.” That's the moment every Ops team dreads, and it happens more often than anyone likes to talk about. In March 2024, McDonald's tills and kiosks went down across multiple countries. Customers were posting about it, queuing at closed counters, before there was any public statement on what had happened. Around the same time, Sainsbury's had contactless, SmartShop and Nectar all drop while chip-and-pin kept working, and shoppers were the ones flagging this in real time, working out for themselves which parts of the system were down, and which weren't. We don't know what either team knew internally, or when. What we do know is that the public experience outpaced the public explanation, and that gap is where trust erodes fastest. Once a customer becomes the one explaining your outage to you, you've already lost the narrative, and usually the queue as well. The test isn't whether something breaks. In a distributed estate, you can't prevent all of it. The test is whether you catch it in the signal, before it ever reaches someone standing at a till, working out for themselves what's gone wrong. The customer at the till shouldn't be your alert system.

𝗪𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝙒𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨. Across distributed retail estates, a green dashboard doesn't always mean everything is working as it should. A payment taking longer. A POS system slowing down. A fridges temperature creeping upward. A coffee machine needing attention. Individually, these issues can look minor. Across an estate, they can affect trading, store teams and customers. HelmCore starts with the business-critical applications retailers depend on, then connects the supporting network, device and operational signals to understand what's happening, where it's happening and what it's costing. So IT and Operations teams can prioritise the issues that matter most, act with context and verify the outcome. **HelmCore. 𝘼 𝙩𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙜𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙞𝙣 𝙤𝙣𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙚. 𝘼 𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙠 𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧. 𝘼 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙧 𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙨 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙛𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩. Each one is small on its own. Together they decide how well the estate trades that week. That is what HelmCore was built for. We are a Retail Operational Intelligence platform for multi-site retail, convenience and forecourt operators. HelmCore brings signals from POS, network, IoT and energy systems into a single view, groups related events into one incident, identifies the root cause and sets out the steps to resolve it. It also shows what the incident is costing while it is still open, so Ops, IT and Finance each see the same event in the terms they work in. Built in Sligo. ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified, with every customer running on their own isolated instance. Follow the page for what we see across distributed estates: what breaks, why it takes so long to spot, and what it costs while it runs.
