Global expansion isn’t a once-off project, it’s an ongoing partnership, and choosing a partner isn’t just about who can take you there but who gives you the most confidence to keep moving forward, compliantly, as you grow. In a recent conversation with Liliana, we talked about why that confidence matters most when things don’t go to plan. The right partner earns trust in the hard moments - through experience, transparency, and steady guidance.

Representative Offices (ROs) generally serve one purpose: understand the market before you operate in it. As Luna reminded me this week, an RO is designed for research and marketing - nothing more. Once you start selling, invoicing, or building local teams, you begin triggering regulatory and tax exposure, and you'll need a different business setup - typically a branch or subsidiary. An RO is a great way to learn without overcommitting. Just make sure the structure evolves when the business does. As your team scales or your business activities change, is your structure, and your compliance, keeping up?

The real magic in global expansion? When your teams move with one strategy, and your partners strengthen every step. Had a great chat with Liliana about what makes global expansion work. Her perspective was simple and essential. Be clear with why. Why expand, why now, and why those markets? Good strategy saves you from bad surprises. Get your teams aligned. Global expansion touches Finance, HR, Legal and Ops and if they’re not connected, things can break fast. Choose the right partners. The real test isn’t when things go smoothly. It’s when they don’t. That’s where experience matters. Global growth is exciting but it only succeeds when the plan, the people and the partners move together.

Transfer pricing isn't something to be ignored, it's a core part of your global expansion strategy. Thinking through how your revenues and profits will be allocated between subsidiaries, branches, or entities within your global structure is an important first step and it is really what transfer pricing is all about. As Kirsten, Founder and Fractional CFO at SaaS Scaler says, the smartest companies use transfer pricing not just for tax compliance, but to drive clarity, control, and stronger governance across their global markets. Companies can strategically allocate profits among different subsidiaries, leading to potential tax savings, how optimised is your business for transfer pricing or is it worth reviewing this?
