GLEIF and ENS Labs Ltd are working on a proposal that would let an organization link its Ethereum Name Service (ENS) name to its Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) and verifiable LEI (vLEI). A single institution may run wallets on several networks and switch infrastructure providers along the way. On its own, an address doesn’t identify the legal entity that controls it. Under the proposal, a signed association ties the organization’s ENS name to its vLEI. The name remains constant when addresses or providers change, and the vLEI allows counterparties to computationally verify the legal entity behind it, including the authority and role of the person acting on its behalf. The blog covers where this could apply, including counterparty risk and tokenized assets. Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/evQr2p3z #vLEI #DigitalAssets

When health data crosses systems, the recipient needs to know which organization is behind it and whether the person acting for that organization has the authority to do so. Health Data Management closes its three-part series on trust in healthcare data exchange with this article. The series recaps a panel at April’s SEDI summit in Utah, in which GLEIF took part. Part three sets out how individual identity, verifiable organizational identity and credentialing could work together, so that a check made once can be relied on by the next organization in the chain. For a Know Your Customer (KYC) check on a foreign company, reaching its official register entry usually means working out which authority holds the record, finding the register’s website, translating it, and searching by registration number. National authoritative information meets global interoperability 🤝🌐 GLEIF’s linking initiative skips those steps for entities registered with participating authorities. Their Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) records carry a dedicated URL that opens the entity’s entry on the register’s own website. Six authority sources are linked as of today: 🇳🇱 Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (kvk.nl) 🇬🇧 Companies House in the UK 🇨🇭 Switzerland’s Swiss Federal Statistical Office FSO 🇫🇷 France’s National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) 🇪🇪 Estonia’s Registrite ja Infosüsteemide Keskus (RIK) // Centre of Registers and Information Systems 🇳🇿 New Zealand Companies Office The page now also has an overview, downloadable as a spreadsheet, of the data these registers offer beyond the LEI reference data. Depending on the register, that includes officers, authorized representatives, beneficial ownership, and annual accounts. What is available varies, and some of it is not free. In this episode of Trust Talks, Alexandre Kech, CEO of GLEIF, is joined by Sam Smith, inventor of KERI (Key Event Receipt Infrastructure) and co-founder of the KERI Foundation. KERI is the technical infrastructure under the hood of the verifiable LEI (vLEI) and many other projects. In this conversation, Alexandre and Sam dig into what changes when an identity system is built from the key management layer up rather than the application layer down. Listen to the full episode now.

AI agents are beginning to act on behalf of companies where a human was previously involved, sometimes as the decision maker. As these systems take on more operational tasks, how can a counterparty verify that an AI agent is acting with a company’s authority and not simply generating actions on its own? Jaegyeong Yeom, co-founder of YourData, explains how its Agent-Anchor prototype is designed to use the verifiable LEI (vLEI) to connect AI-generated actions to verified organizational identity and roles, ensuring actions are authorized before reaching business systems. Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) depends on governance, regulation, and people as much as on technology. In Trust Talks Episode 14, Alexandre Kech, CEO of GLEIF, speaks with Pavle Avramovic, Director of Research and Policy at Financial Innovation for Impact, about making DPI work beyond the design stage. They discuss how a standardized organizational identifier reshapes regulatory coordination, what other DPI programs can learn from the Global LEI System’s governance model, and why organizational identity cannot simply be copied from consumer identity design.
