Every HR leader knows the feeling: As the year winds down, the workload surges. Payroll becomes a high-stakes race against the calendar, and suddenly every detail matters, because even one small oversight can create a massive headache. But what if year-end didn’t have to push your team to the brink? In a new conversation with our COO, Greg Duval, we dig into the reality HR teams face, and more importantly, the steps they can take to turn year-end from stressful to strategic. Greg breaks down the patterns he sees across HR teams nationwide: ✔ too much manual checking ✔ systems that don’t sync ✔ unclear employee communication ✔ and recurring “gotchas” like PTO carryover and tax changes But he also shares what the most effective HR teams do differently: They start early. Data audits and system reviews aren’t a luxury, they’re the foundation for accuracy. They lean on integrated technology. When payroll, time, HRIS, and benefits talk to each other, year-end errors drop dramatically. They communicate like people, not policies. Employees need clarity, not complexity. They treat year-end as a learning opportunity. Every bottleneck reveals where processes or systems need to evolve. For smaller HR teams especially, Greg’s message is empowering: You don’t need to do everything. You just need to do the right things well and early. Year-end will always be busy. But it doesn’t have to be chaotic. With the right planning and tools, HR can wrap the year with confidence and enter the next one ahead of the curve. 📽️ Video link in the comments. #HR #PayrollProcessing #HREducation #YearEndReadiness #PeopleOps #JohnDuval #FuseWorkforce

Year-end payroll is one of the most demanding moments for HR, and I’ve seen first-hand how overwhelming it can feel. The deadlines get shorter. The data gets more complex. The stakes feel higher. And the margin for error? Almost zero. But here’s the mindset shift that changes everything: Year-end doesn’t have to be chaotic. It can be predictable, and it can be strategic. In my recent conversation with the Fuse Workforce team, I shared the patterns I see across HR departments, the good, the bad, and the preventable. Here’s what consistently makes the biggest difference: Early auditing, clean data is the best gift you can give your future self- and your employees. Systems that talk to each other, Payroll + HRIS + time + benefits → When these connect, HR eliminates hours of manual checks and reduces the risk of late-year errors. Realistic calendars, too many HR teams build timelines based on hope. Year-end requires honesty, clarity, and cross-team alignment. Communication that reduces anxiety, employees don’t need jargon, they need clarity, timelines, and easy self-service tools. Attention to the “small” items, PTO carryover, policy updates, and tax changes are often the biggest hidden disruptors. And for smaller HR teams: perfection cannot be the goal. Prioritize risk. Automate the rest. Ask for support. Most importantly, year-end is a moment to reflect: What slowed you down? Where did friction appear? What processes or tools held you back? If HR can approach year-end with proactive planning and people-first thinking, the chaos fades and confidence takes its place. 📽️ Full video in the comments. #HR #Payroll #YearEndPayroll #Leadership #HRStrategy #EmployeeExperience #GregDuval

Year-end payroll has never been “just an administrative close-out. It’s a pressure test of your systems, your processes, and, most importantly, your people. And the organizations that treat it as a strategic moment, not a scramble, are the ones who enter the next year with confidence instead of cleanup. As we wrap 2025 and look toward 2026, HR leaders are carrying more responsibility than ever before. This season is your chance to strengthen operations, reinforce trust, and set your organization up for smoother cycles ahead. Here’s where every HR team should be focusing right now: • Reconcile all W-2/1099 data and ensure every employee record is accurate. As MySoftwareSolutions notes, this single step reduces the majority of downstream issues. • Lock in tax and withholding changes so January isn’t a mad dash. • Audit your systems and integrations—experts continue to warn that “technology integration” remains one of the biggest challenges heading into 2026. • Establish clear protocols for PTO carry-overs, holiday schedules, leave payouts, and year-end accruals. Look Ahead: Turn Year-End Into a Process Upgrade: • Treat this season as a feedback loop. What broke? What slowed you down? What confused employees? Capture it, then improve it. • Strengthen the employee experience with automation, self-service, and mobile access. Payroll trust is people trust. • Align payroll with talent and workforce strategy, because changes in pay, deductions, and worker classification directly impact your people strategy. • Strengthen the employee experience with automation, self-service, and mobile access. Payroll trust is people's trust. Support the Team Behind the Work • Give your HR/payroll teams the bandwidth, tools, and clarity they need during this demanding season. • Celebrate the wins, year-end is a marathon. • Keep leadership close and informed so HR isn’t isolated as the “gatekeeper.” Year-end payroll doesn’t end with the final run. It ends when the data is right, the team is supported, employees are informed, and your systems are set up for success. The organizations that treat this moment strategically will feel the benefits all year long. Year-end payroll doesn’t have to feel like controlled chaos. Deadlines, and the constant fear that one overlooked detail could create a ripple effect in every department. But what if year-end could feel different? What if it could be a moment of confidence, not crisis? In our latest conversation, our COO, Greg Duval breaks down exactly how HR teams can transform year-end from reactive to strategic. He shares what he sees every day in the field: ✔ the volume and complexity that spike overnight ✔ system checks that seem endless ✔ employees anxiously awaiting clarity ✔ and how a single error can impact hundreds Yet the message is simple: HR has more control than it feels. Greg offers practical, human-centered advice HR teams can apply right now: • Start early with clean audits and data validation. • Build a realistic, cross-department calendar, not a wish list. • Focus on communication that reduces anxiety rather than raising more questions. • Use technology as a connector, not a complication. When payroll, HRIS, time, and benefits actually talk to each other, HR teams reclaim hours of time, prevent avoidable errors, and give employees the experience they deserve. Greg also highlights the small things HR forgets every year, PTO carryover, policy updates, tax changes, the “quiet” tasks that create loud headaches later. But maybe his most important point: Year-end is a strategic opportunity. A chance for HR to ask: what slowed us down? What confused employees, and where did our systems disconnect? This conversation is a must-watch for HR professionals looking to strengthen trust, simplify processes, and start the new year already ahead. 📽️ Video in the comments. #HR #Payroll #YearEnd #WorkforceManagement #HRTips #PeopleLeaders #FuseWorkforce

Over the past few months, I’ve had countless conversations with HR leaders who are feeling the pressure of SECURE Act 2.0. And I understand why, this legislation is dense, packed with phased rollouts, and full of updates that directly impact how organizations administer retirement and support their employees’ financial wellbeing. That’s exactly why I recorded this video. My goal is simple: help HR teams understand the “why,” the “what,” and most importantly, the “now what?” In the video, I walk through the biggest SECURE 2.0 updates affecting HR in 2025 and beyond auto-enrollment, Roth catch-up contributions, long-term part-time eligibility, emergency savings facilitation, employer match on student loan payments, and compliance timelines that can’t be ignored. But this isn’t just about regulations. It’s about empowering HR professionals to guide employees through meaningful financial milestones. HR plays a critical role in helping teams build stability and security, and the SECURE Act gives us new tools to do that- if we understand how to implement them correctly. My hope is that this breakdown gives you clarity, confidence, and a roadmap for what’s ahead. HR shouldn’t have to navigate this alone. 📌 The full video is waiting for you in the comments. Let’s make sure every HR department is ready. #FuseWorkforce #HRLegislation #HRVideos
