Every industry has people who make you think, “𝘔𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺'𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨.” In eDiscovery, we want to help make that happen. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲, founded by Exterro, brings the eDiscovery community together to share ideas, learn from one another, and celebrate the people moving the profession forward. And this year, we're adding something new to that celebration: the first-ever 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬! The awards will recognize five practitioners with five years or less in the field who are already making a meaningful impact on the profession. Maybe it's a colleague bringing fresh ideas to the table, someone doing fantastic work behind the scenes, or a professional who's already making a difference in their organization. Whoever comes to mind, we'd love to hear about them. Self-nominations are welcome, too! The five Rising Stars will be announced live during the eDiscovery Day keynote on December 3, with their stories featured across the event partners' podcasts, publications, and websites. Nominations close November 6. Who's the first person that comes to mind? Nominate them using the link in the comments! #eDiscoveryDay2026 #eDiscovery #LegalTech #eDiscoveryDay

This year, we're asking a big one: 𝙄𝙣 𝙖 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝘼𝙄 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙡𝙙, 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙙𝙤𝙚𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠 𝙣𝙤𝙬? On December 3, we're putting AI on trial with a live Oral Argument - four practitioners, opposing sides, one big question, and you get to decide who wins. This year's eDiscovery Day is in partnership with Association of Certified E-Discovery Specialists (ACEDS), EDRM - Electronic Discovery Reference Model, eDiscovery Today, and LegalOps.com. 𝐀 𝟐𝟎-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐞𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐯𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧, 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐈: "𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐈 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝." Thomas Mullane has been doing eDiscovery and cyber investigations since 2005. Long enough to watch multiple "𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨" tech cycles come and go. On the latest episode of 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐗𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞, Tom sat down with Mike Hamilton, J.D. and shared some genuinely useful takeaways: 🔹 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐨𝐰). Tom draws a clear line: use AI to cut through hundreds of documents and surface what's relevant, but be very cautious letting it generate content on your behalf. 🔹 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡. 𝐈𝐭 𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞. A branding lesson that's just as relevant to how AI tools get adopted (or rejected) today. 🔹 𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 "𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬" 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐲, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠. Tom's framework for telling real urgency apart from manufactured urgency, and why staying calm is a skill, not a personality trait. 🔹 𝐓𝐡𝐞 "𝐀𝐈 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐠𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞" 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥, 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲-𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭. Tom pushes back on a claim from a previous guest, arguing the risk looks very different for a consumer retailer vs. an aerospace company. 🔹 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐥𝐚𝐰 𝐝𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥. Tom's approach: certifications, case law literacy, and consistently being the person with the answer in the room. This isn't AI hype or AI fear, it's a grounded, occasionally contrarian read from someone who's actually lived through it. Worth the listen if AI, data risk, or litigation prep is anywhere on your radar. Full episode in the comments. #eDiscovery #DataRisk #CyberInvestigations #ArtificialIntelligence #LegalTech
