It was almost exactly one year ago that Sean Linehan and I launched AI Roleplays. For the last decade, I’ve listened to leaders talk about how they wanted better-trained people and then underinvest in training. I used to think they weren’t being rational. But, over time, I came to understand: They wanted the outcome of training (behavior change) but didn’t believe the existing modalities of training would deliver. And they were right. Every training modality used to come with show-stopping tradeoffs: On the one had you have activities like human role play which are effective but hard to scale. On the other hand you have things like content, which are easy to scale but don't move the needle on true skill development. So we started asking a different question: Where does training actually work? We looked at the Olympics, the CIA, fighter pilots– all places where training tends to work well. And it’s because they have a few things in common: 1. A practice environment that's almost indistinguishable from the performance environment 2. Fast feedback loops with expert coaches and trainers 3. Spaced repetition to build skills that become second nature It became clear to us, that someone needs to build the flight simulator for conversation-based training. Yesterday, we landed our third 300,000+ employee organization. When Sean originally demoed Roleplays to their CEO he said, "man every customer-facing employee in our company should be using this." Exciting to see the vision becoming a reality.

They collaborated us to design a 24-week program to retain their top performers. 56 custom AI Roleplays designed to help their high-performing SDRs to get certified as AEs. That means they're way more competitive with external hires when open roles emerge. They were kind enough to let us remix a generic version to share publicly. Here's how it goes: Level 1: Advanced Discovery Fundamentals Level 2: Solution Design & Value Translation Level 3: Objection Mastery & Deal Advancement Level 4: Negotiation & Commercial Conversations Level 5: Strategic Account Management By the end of the program, your SDRs will have: - practiced 56 real-world sales conversations - built skills to to hit the ground running as AEs - gained confidence that your company cares about their growth Comment “program” and I’ll send you the full 20-page program breakdown.

Traditional sales training is broken. Pro athletes never show up without practicing. Yet we send salespeople into high-stakes calls with just a PDF and a prayer. AI is finally changing this (and the results are wild). Here's what I learned: The best sellers already know this - they roleplay constantly. But they're stuck using unscalable systems while everyone else on the team almost never practices. AI is finally making systematic practice possible for entire teams. I just did a deep dive exploring this space, and how one company, Exec, is using AI to solve this problem, and they completely changed how I think about sales training. The founders, Nick deWilde and Sean Linehan, are sharp and deeply understand this problem. 1. Why Role-Playing Works It creates muscle memory for high-pressure situations. Reading about objection handling isn't the same as actually handling objections under pressure. 2. The Problems with Traditional Role-Play Managers don't have time. They can't play convincing prospects. Feedback is inconsistent. Most teams just skip it entirely (I've seen this time and time again). 3. How AI Solves This at Scale AI plays realistic prospects 24/7. Skeptical CFOs, technical evaluators, procurement specialists. Each with real objections pulled from actual closed-lost deal transcripts. 4. Organizational Intelligence Exec.com analyzes hundreds of calls to find patterns. Which responses move deals forward? That knowledge becomes practice scenarios for everyone. 5. The Strategic Advantage Small improvements compound (see: James Clear's Atomic Habits). Teams using AI Role-Play see new hires ramping in 6 weeks instead of 6 months. 6. AI Augmenting > AI Replacing This isn't AI replacing managers. It's codifying (and scaling) their best practices and frameworks. The AI handles the repetitive stuff, so managers can focus on the deeply human feedback that changes behavior. –––––––––––– My full breakdown on Exec.com on today's deep dive sponsored post on The Signal: https://lnkd.in/dS3VRpzn ^ There's an exclusive offer for The Signal readers at the end of the post.
