This list is pure gold for game devs. 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 just shipped an official 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 plugin. That was the signal: coding agents aren’t just for web devs anymore. So I mapped the open-source repos that let an agent actually work inside a game project. Grouped by job. Whole studio (multi-agent) → 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲-𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲-𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲-𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝘀: a team of role-based agents (design, code, QA) working in one session Unreal → 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲: the agent sits inside the UE editor → 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹_𝗺𝗰𝗽: lets an agent spawn actors, import assets and start play sessions → 𝗩𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗨𝗘: vibe-coding layer for UE → 𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲-𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: a C++ knowledge pack for agents → 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗔𝗜𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: LLMs in the editor and at runtime, including NPCs Unity → 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆’𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝘂𝗴𝗶𝗻: first-party skills + CLI → 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆-𝗠𝗖𝗣: community MCP with an edit–test loop → 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗖𝗣 (𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼): scenes, assets, builds and the profiler via plain-language commands → 𝗠𝗟-𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: reinforcement learning for NPCs - an old classic, still useful Godot → 𝗴𝗼𝗱𝗼𝘁-𝗺𝗰𝗽: run the game, read the errors, fix 3D / assets → 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗥𝗗 (𝗨𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗟𝗮 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲): PBR material maps from a single texture Animation / face → 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗼𝟮𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲-𝟯𝗗 (𝗡𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗜𝗔): voice line in, lip-sync out Sound → 𝗔𝗖𝗘-𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭.𝟱: local music generation → 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘆𝘂𝗮𝗻𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼-𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗲𝘆: sound effects synced to a clip Experimental: worlds that generate as you play → 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘆𝘂𝗮𝗻-𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗖𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁, 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘅-𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲 Research demos, not production tools. Honest take: Most of these are young. Several are research drops that haven’t been touched in a year. Expect things to break. Try them in a sandbox, not on your main branch. But the direction is clear: The agent is becoming the glue between departments. We see the same thing building playable ads at 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼. The bottleneck moves from “can we build it?” to “what should we build?” Save this for your next prototype sprint. A week later, 𝗔𝗥𝗖 had 2.0M 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 wishlists. 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝟲 had 0.86M. That’s one of the numbers in 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿’𝘀 new report on game advertising. I put the ones game devs can use into a 35-second video: • Wishlists didn’t follow reveal-week ad spend • Ad spend starts 10–14 days before release • Merge and strategy games buy different channels • Original games buy installs. Licensed IP gets found • 70% of 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 game ad spend now goes to 𝗥𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 • A typical top mobile advertiser ships 3.4x more new ads a month than a year ago My take: save your ad budget for launch, not the reveal. It’s 9 big premium launches, so treat it as a pattern to test, not a rule. Where did most of your last launch budget go: the reveal or launch week?

Game Dev Ultimate Kit 2027 49 tools, models amp; platforms you’ll use next year. We’ve updated the kit we shared last year: 17 categories covering game development, creative production and marketing. The essentials are still here — 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗨𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹, 𝗚𝗼𝗱𝗼𝘁, 𝗕𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿, 𝗔𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲 and GitHub.This edition also adds playable ads, AI image and video models, and agent workflows. A few additions worth a look: - 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲𝘅, 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 and 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗛𝘂𝗯 𝗖𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁 for coding. - 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗴𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 and 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 for video. - 𝗖𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼 for creating playable ads, alongside 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮 for researching competitor creatives. - 𝗚𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 and 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗯𝗮𝘀𝗲 for understanding player behavior. Keep it handy for your next project, or send it to a teammate putting their stack together. What’s one tool you use every week that’s missing?

25 million downloads worldwide. One goal: clear the board. 𝗛𝗲𝘅𝗮 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝘆 builds its puzzles around three things: 1. Direction Each piece moves in the direction of its arrow. Another piece can block its path, so the order matters. Check what needs to move first. 2. Empty space Gaps can provide escape routes. Look at the openings as well as the pieces still on the board. 3. Swapping A mechanism exchanges two attached blocks. Their arrows keep the same direction, but their positions change. Check which routes become available after the swap. Same goal. New puzzles to solve For designers, this is a useful approach to level variety: change the obstacles and the arrangement while keeping the objective clear. Which game should we break down next?
