Building Resilience for Generations Our multiple award-winning Mill Creek Flood Protection Project in Kelowna, BC is a shining example of how infrastructure, community, and nature can thrive together. Developed in partnership with the City of Kelowna, Indigenous partners, and local stakeholders, this project safeguards 1,650 homes and businesses, ensuring long-term resilience for generations to come. By restoring fish passages, adding engineered riffles and log jams, and planting three new trees for every one removed, the project enhances biodiversity while protecting people and property. At CIMA+, our expertise in hydrotechnical design, climate adaptation, and environmental engineering demonstrates that infrastructure can be both innovative and deeply human, protecting communities while nurturing the ecosystems that sustain them. What if water became the key to climate adaptation? In a context where extreme weather events are reshaping our landscape, some municipalities are choosing to take strategic action. This is the case in the City of Dorval, which has adopted an innovative approach to rethinking its development in terms of resilience, sustainable development... and above all, water protection and enhancement. CIMA+ had the privilege of supporting this ambitious initiative through the OASIS program, a project that demonstrates the power of strategic planning when it is rooted in science, consultation, and territorial intelligence.
