Our sixth (!) annual Charter Workplace Summit is a week away, and in-person registration for New York closes soon. If you can't be in the room on Oct. 21, you can join the full program virtually for free. That also makes it easy to bring your team along, so everyone hears the same conversations and can learn together. A few sessions on the agenda: - We'll give the first look at the Charter AI Pulse, our new research on how AI is actually reshaping work, drawn from thousands of workers and senior executives. Brian Elliott and Christina Janzer will walk through the headline findings, including what's really changing and who's being left behind. - Annie Duke and Wharton's Katy Milkman will talk about how the best leaders make decisions under pressure, when the information is incomplete and the ground keeps moving. - Van Jones will close the day with a fireside conversation on building trust and connection in divided workplaces, a few weeks before another high-tension election. There's much more on the agenda too. Clara Shih will discuss the entry-level jobs crisis, Harvard's David Deming will cover the human skills that matter more as AI spreads, and leaders from WRITER, Prudential Financial, and Databricks will take an honest look at the future of the middle manager. Thanks to our presenting partners PwC and Sol, and to HiBob, Verizon, Mento, Noom, Lead with Ai, Leapsome, Instill AI, Rapport, Robin, ChangeEngine, and Atheni.ai. And to co-chairs Betty Larson of Merck and Amy Reichanadter of Databricks for helping shape the program. The link to register, in person or virtual, is in the comments.

We're less than one week out from this year's Charter Workplace Summit, and my days are a flurry of putting finishing touches on speaker sessions, getting out final invites, and preparing for all the events that well, surround the event. The agenda and speaker lineup is stellar, and we've got an incredible lineup of sponsors who've helped make this year's summit possible. But this year includes something especially cool: I've also been editing some exciting new research Brian Elliott and Christina Janzer have been leading, which we'll present at the event and can't wait to share with the world. Two things make it different from the AI-at-work reports you see every week. One: There's no vendor behind it influencing the report, and no one outside Charter besides our academic advisers saw it before completion. And two: we've measured a lot more than productivity, asking instead about whether AI is making people's work *and* lives better. One of our advisers called it a "first" of its kind. If you're interested in learning more about the research we've done, and hearing from speakers like Van Jones, Clara Shih, Theresita Richard, Katherine Milkman, Yolanda Seals-Coffield, Vicki Walia, Ph.D., Roy E. Bahat, Janet Foutty, Annie Duke, and many more, there's still time to apply to attend in person at the link in comments. If you're not in New York and want to join us virtually, registration is free and open to all.
