𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗠𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗥 – 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗲-𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀… 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗿. A simple comparison that lands instantly: Noise-cancelling headphones use active sound control to remove unwanted noise. CALMFLOOR uses active vibration control to remove unwanted floor movement. The principle is the same - eliminate the interference, so performance comes through clearly. Where headphones improve what you hear, CALMFLOOR improves how your building behaves. ✔️ Up to 90% reduction in vibration ✔️ No structural alterations or additional steelwork ✔️ Enhanced comfort, compliance, and serviceability ✔️ Live performance insight via CALM Connect All delivered through a compact 148lb (67kg) modular unit - engineered to integrate seamlessly and adapt as requirements change. But buildings were rarely designed for these constantly changing demands – and uncontrolled floor vibration can quickly become the barrier to making them work. CALMFLOOR active mass dampers upgrade floor performance instantly, stabilising floors across multiple frequencies – from human footfall to gym equipment and mechanical systems. ✔ Up to 90% vibration reduction ✔ Installed in hours ✔ Suitable for live 24/7 environments ✔ Bolt-in, bolt-out flexibility for evolving spaces ✔ Lower carbon than traditional structural solutions Hospitality spaces become more stable, flexible and ready for whatever comes next.

Long spans enable the open, flexible floor layouts modern buildings demand – but they often introduce a familiar challenge: vibration. Traditionally, the solution has been to add structural mass through deeper beams, heavier slabs and more steel reinforcement. In this expert article, CALMFLOOR co-founder and vibration specialist Alex Pavic explains how active vibration control changes all that. A realistic study of a 1,400m² composite steel-concrete tower floorplate spanning 15m found that CALMFLOOR active mass dampers reduced steel usage from 118.6 tonnes to just 30.1 tonnes – while maintaining the same vibration performance. With no additional concrete required, total structural material weight fell by 25%, opening the door to lighter structures, improved build efficiency and stronger project economics. With steel prices under increasing pressure globally, the ability to achieve high-performance floors with significantly less material is the advantage everyone in the sector will want. 𝗔 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗴𝘆𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸. When a 380m² suspended office floor in a multi-storey London building was rapidly converted into a workplace gym, the structural strength wasn’t the concern. The gym floor vibration was. Structural stiffening wasn’t feasible. Timescales were tight. Mixed-use vibration criteria had to be met. CALMFLOOR was the only viable solution and controlled it at source. 16 active mass dampers (AMDs) were clustered in groups beneath the gym floor, targeting vibration hotspots at source – with no structural modification or downtime. The result: ✔ Floor vibration halved at source ✔ Vibration reduced to within office-grade performance limits ✔ Offices below protected ✔ Long-term mixed-use performance secured ✔ No adverse comments about floor vibration 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱? In hospitality and leisure environments, guest experience is everything. But floor vibration is an invisible risk – until it starts to interfere with comfort, equipment and the seamless experience guests expect. Modern venues are lighter, more open-plan and increasingly mixed-use, making them more vulnerable to dynamic loads from footfall, fitness equipment and events. Left unresolved, “lively” floors don’t just affect comfort – they affect reviews, revenue and long-term asset value. Traditional structural fixes mean closures, disruption and added carbon – none of which 24/7 venues can afford. 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗠𝗙𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 deliver instant, multi-frequency floor vibration control with zero structural intervention and no business interruption. ✔ Up to 90% vibration reduction ✔ Suitable for live 24/7 environments ✔ Protects guest comfort and brand reputation ✔ Bolt-in, bolt-out flexibility ✔ Lower carbon than traditional structural solutions Keep the doors open. Keep the experience intact.
