"You're salaried" is the most common way employers avoid paying overtime they actually owe. A salary doesn't make you exempt. Your job duties do, and often they don't match the title on the offer letter. If you're working past 40 hours, clocking in early, staying late, or answering messages off the clock without proper pay, the hours can add up to real money. Write down your schedule. Save your time records. Working unpaid overtime or missing wages you earned? We represent employees across Ohio & Pennsylvania. Free case review at usebulldog.com. Attorney advertising. You were ready to work. They sent you home instead. Being put on leave isn't always a favor — sometimes it's the violation. Since 2023, most employers with 15 or more workers have to reasonably accommodate pregnancy so you can keep doing your job. Forcing you onto unpaid leave when a small adjustment would've worked can itself be unlawful. When it started, and who decided, matters. Forced out, demoted, or pushed onto leave after your pregnancy? We represent employees across Ohio & Pennsylvania. Free case review at usebulldog.com. Attorney advertising. Not legal advice.

Discrimination cases are rarely won on what a manager said. They're won on who got promoted. The smoking gun almost never exists. What exists is a pattern: the same people getting the stretch projects, the raises, the title, while your reviews stay strong and your role stays flat. Pay, promotion, and assignment decisions based on race, sex, religion, disability, or national origin are illegal even when no one says the reason out loud. Who advanced and who didn't is where a case starts. Passed over, underpaid, or pushed out? We represent employees across Ohio & Pennsylvania. Free case review at usebulldog.com. Attorney advertising. "We need fresh energy" is one of the most expensive things a manager can say out loud. Age discrimination almost never uses the word age. It uses "culture fit" and "fresh energy" and "we're going a different direction." Meanwhile the layoffs skew older, and the training and promotions flow to everyone but you. Federal law protects workers 40 and up at employers with 20 or more employees. Age cannot be the reason you're pushed out, passed over, or replaced. What changed, and who benefited, is the case. Forced out, passed over, or replaced by someone younger? We represent employees across Ohio & Pennsylvania. Free case review at usebulldog.com. Attorney advertising. Not legal advice.

"That's just what we offered you" is not a legal reason to pay you less than the person next to you. A pay gap between people doing the same work has to rest on something real like seniority or merit, not sex. Under the Equal Pay Act, equal work is supposed to mean equal pay, and a smaller starting number isn't a defense. If a coworker doing substantially the same job earns more, the comparison is where it starts. You don't need permission to know what fair looks like. Paid less than a coworker for the same work?
