New research reveals a digital health maturity gap in Australian general practice. A national survey of 1,164 general practices—published in the Australian Journal of Primary Health—found that no clinic scored above 80/100 in any domain of digital health maturity, including infrastructure, meaningful use, digital literacy, and clinical leadership. While many practices have digital tools in place, meaningful use remains low, and critical gaps in data literacy and change readiness persist. Even among "advanced" practices, digital adoption is far from optimal. What does this mean for the future of digital health in primary care? It means digital transformation in general practice requires more than tech—it demands leadership, capability building, governance and tailored change management. That’s exactly what we’ll be tackling at the Primary Care, Digitally Connected conference in Sydney on 21 October 2025. Program highlights: - The (R)evolution of Medicare: How funding models must evolve to support digital, value-based care - New models of care: From virtual care to AI-driven diagnostics - Data ownership and ethics: Who owns health data in a consumer-centric digital world? - Digital capability uplift: Strategies to improve digital and data literacy across the sector Whether you're a GP, practice manager, PHN leader, policymaker or innovator—this is your chance to be part of the conversation shaping the future of primary care. Don’t miss this opportunity to shape the future of primary care, digitally connected.
