Ask 146 senior loss prevention leaders to define organized retail crime and you'll get 116 different answers. Loss Prevention Research Council (LPRC) found that out firsthand when conducting a study on ORC. While the exact definition varies by retailer and agency, three themes show up consistently: 👥 Organized: coordination or planning, not one person acting on impulse. ♻️ Repeat: the same persons of interest hitting multiple stores, locations, and jurisdictions over time. 💰 Profit driven: stolen merchandise isn't for personal use, it's acquired to resell. The scale backs up why this matters. Across the Auror Network, 10% of offenders are responsible for 60% of total event value in the US, a pattern that's held for a decade. And 1 in 4 repeat offenders hits more than one store location. Auror Head of Law Enforcement for the Americas Raul O. A., who formerly headed up ORC at Homeland Security, broke down the industry definition, the signs to watch for, and what the data shows: https://hubs.ly/Q04sNRcJ0 #RetailCrime #OrganizedRetailCrime #LossPrevention #AssetProtection

Big news for UK retail: 1,186 Asda stores across the UK are joining the Auror Network! 🟩 Auror has already made crime reporting 80% faster for store colleagues, during a 10-week pilot earlier this year. This cut incident logging from 25 minutes to under five, and helped colleagues surface dozens of prolific repeat offenders that not only impacted their own stores, but other retailers across London and beyond, too. “The results from our London pilot demonstrated the value of having a faster and more effective way to report incidents and identify repeat offenders in real time. By working more closely with police and retailers through a shared intelligence network, we can focus our efforts where they will have the greatest impact and help to tackle retail crime.” - David Lepley, COO at Asda. Great to welcome Asda’s entire estate to the network, and to see them leading from the front to protect their people by working together to surface repeat offenders.
