Whether you are leaving home for a few hours or for a few weeks – ensure that your security arrangements are in place. 1. Gate and Perimeter A well-secured gate and perimeter form the first line of defence against unauthorised entry. ➡️ Ensure all gates lock properly and the perimeter is intact with no damage or weak points. 2. Electric Fence An electric fence provides a strong physical and psychological deterrent to would-be intruders. It also alerts security teams immediately when tampered with. ➡️ Test the fence to confirm it is live and free of faults or vegetation interference. 3. Perimeter Beams Perimeter beams detect movement along boundary lines before a criminal reaches your home or business. Early warning helps security respond faster and more effectively. ➡️ Check that beams are aligned, clean and triggering effectively. 4. Outdoor Lights Good lighting removes hiding spots and increases visibility around your property. Bright, well-placed lights discourage intruders and improve the clarity of CCTV footage. ➡️ Test all outdoor lights, replace faulty globes, or adjust timers and sensors. 5. CCTV Cameras CCTV cameras monitor activity in real time and provide crucial evidence when incidents occur. ➡️ Make sure cameras are recording, lenses are clean and remote viewing is functioning optimally. 6. Alarms Alarms notify you and the Command Centre the moment a breach takes place. ➡️ Arm the system and run a full test to confirm all zones and sensors are working correctly. 7. Panic Buttons Panic buttons offer instant access to emergency assistance during threatening situations. ➡️ Test panic buttons to ensure they trigger correctly and are accessible to anyone staying behind. 8. Back-up Batteries Back-up batteries ensure your security systems remain operational during load shedding or power failures. ➡️ Check battery health and confirm they hold charge long enough for outages. 9. Update Keyholder Details Accurate keyholder information helps the Command Centre reach the right person quickly in an emergency. ➡️ Confirm your keyholder list is up to date with correct phone numbers and availability. 10. Smoke/Fire Detector Smoke and fire detectors provide early alerts that can save lives and limit property damage. Quick detection helps emergency services intervene before a fire spreads. ➡️ Test each detector and replace batteries where needed. 11. Water Leak Detector Water leak detectors identify leaks before they become major floods or structural hazards. Early warnings help prevent costly repairs and insurance claims. ➡️ Confirm detectors are powered and functioning, especially near geysers and plumbing points. 12. CO₂ Detector A CO₂ detector alerts you to dangerous carbon dioxide levels that may indicate poor ventilation or equipment failure. ➡️ Test the detector and ensure ventilation systems are operating correctly. For shopping malls, the Festive Season brings with it a welcome surge in foot traffic and increased trading opportunities. However, this busy period heightens the need for retailers to remain vigilant and proactive in protecting their customers, staff and assets. Higher visitor numbers create more movement, more distractions, and more opportunities for criminal activity. A secure shopping environment does more than protect stock - it builds customer confidence, encourages longer visits and enhances the overall shopping experience. When people feel safe, they relax, browse more freely and return more often, supporting both the mall’s reputation and the success of individual stores. The Festive Season should be a positive and profitable time for all, and a heightened focus on awareness, preparedness and collaboration ensures that trading can continue smoothly. By taking simple, consistent steps now, shops and malls can enjoy a safe, successful and truly festive holiday period. 24/7 Security Services shares important safety tips for shopping malls - please share this link with all retail staff: https://lnkd.in/dkR3gJDY JOBURG | TSHWANE | CAPE TOWN #team247 #proudly247 #security #safety #247security #247securityservices 🇿🇦

TEST YOUR ALARM REGULARLY – DON'T LET NETWORK CHANGES LEAVE YOU EXPOSED The South African government has confirmed its intention to phase out older network services such as 2G and 3G to make way for faster, more reliable 4G and 5G LTE networks. While an exact date has not yet been set, indications are that it will happen not later than 31 December 2027. Service providers - such as MTN South Africa - have begun rolling out transitional projects to migrate to 4G and 5G. While this is good news for the future of communications, it has serious security implications now. Many alarm and tracking systems still in use rely on 2G or 3G networks. As these networks are decommissioned, affected devices may stop working — often without any clear warning to the user. ℹ️ Why This Matters for Your Security - Security Risk: If your alarm or tracking system silently stops communicating, your home, business, or vehicle may be left unprotected. - Insurance Risk: Several insurers have made it clear that if a policy requires an active alarm or tracking device, a non-functional system could result in a claim being rejected following a burglary or loss. ℹ️ Staying Protected At 24/7 Security Services, we are committed to ensuring our clients are never caught off guard by these changes. We have already started replacing outdated 2G transmitters with modern 4G LTE units. These new devices provide faster, more stable, and more reliable communication with our Command Centre — ensuring that help is always just a signal away. To maintain uninterrupted protection, we recommend the following steps: - Check your system: Confirm whether your alarm or tracking unit still operates on 2G or 3G. - Schedule an upgrade: Upgrading to a 4G-enabled transmitter to ensure ongoing reliability. - Test regularly: Even upgraded systems should be tested frequently. A regular alarm test is the simplest and most effective way to confirm that your system is functioning as it should. Test your alarm at least once a month to ensure it is functioning correctly. ⚠️ Act Now ⚠️ The phase-out of 2G and 3G is already underway. Don’t wait until your system fails — or worse, until a burglary occurs and a claim is rejected. #team247 #proudly247 #security #safety #247security #247securityservices 🇿🇦

24/7 Security Services is putting the focus on personal safety this September. Do your part to make it a #SafeSeptember! Safety Tips for Runners Your safety is always the number one priority when running or walking. Staying alert, being prepared, and respecting others on the road or pavement will help ensure that you get the most out of your training. Staying Safe During Your Run - Stay alert: Always be aware of your surroundings. The more alert you are, the less vulnerable you become. - Plan ahead: Consider possible escape routes in case of an emergency and take note of who is ahead or behind you. Seek areas with activity—there is safety in numbers. - Trust your instincts: If something feels wrong, don’t ignore it. Change your route calmly and avoid potential trouble. - Avoid hazards: Keep clear of parked cars, bushes, dark areas, and alleyways. Be especially vigilant at junctions. - Cross safely: Use pedestrian crossings, obey traffic signals, and never assume drivers have seen you—make eye contact before crossing. - Share the space: Be considerate of other road and pavement users. Do not force pedestrians into the road and check behind you before stepping off the - pavement. Cyclists may be silent—stay alert. - Stay cautious with strangers: Remain polite but keep your distance. Ignore verbal harassment and do not approach vehicles. If asked for directions, keep moving while pointing to a safe location. Clothing and Gear for Safe Running - Layer sensibly: Dress in layers to avoid overheating or excessive cooling. - Protect yourself from the elements: Use sunscreen, sunglasses, a visor, or goggles in windy conditions. - Carry identification: Keep ID, medical information, and emergency contact details with you. If travelling, include your hotel’s address and phone number. - Stay alert: Avoid headphones and distractions—you need to hear and see what’s happening around you. - Be visible: Wear light-coloured, fluorescent, or reflective clothing so drivers can see you. - Avoid jewellery: It can make you a target and cause injury. A whistle is a safer accessory. Planning Your Run - Inform someone: Let others know your route and stay in familiar, safe areas. - Run facing traffic: This makes it easier to spot vehicles and react quickly. - Run with a partner: If possible, join someone else or use trusted, well-used routes. - Avoid running at night: If you must run at dawn or dusk, wear reflective clothing. - Choose safe surfaces: Opt for clear, smooth, and even paths. Avoid steep hills or uneven pavements that increase injury risk. - Know your surroundings: Be aware of trusted neighbours, emergency phones, and safe spots along your route. - Avoid deserted areas: Stick to well-lit, well-used routes and avoid isolated paths, especially after dark. Stay alert. Stay safe. Keep running strong! #team247 #proudly247 #security #safety #247security #247securityservices 🇿🇦

Hijackings on the Rise: Why Safer Cars Are Becoming Criminals’ New Targets Gauteng is experiencing an unsettling increase in vehicle hijackings, and, ironically, it’s linked to advancements in vehicle security technology. As manufacturers develop more sophisticated locking and anti-theft systems, traditional car theft methods are becoming far less effective. Criminals are finding it increasingly difficult to bypass these systems, so instead of stealing parked cars, they are targeting drivers directly. Modern vehicles now come equipped with advanced electronic locks, keyless entry systems, and immobilisers that are far more resistant to hacking. While this is great news for parked vehicle security, it has shifted criminal tactics. Hijackers see more opportunity in taking the car when the driver is present - keys in hand, doors unlocked, and systems disarmed. ℹ️ Why the increase? - Technological advancements: Cars are harder to steal when unattended. - Quick resale or use: Hijacked vehicles can be moved faster and with fewer traces left behind. - Driver vulnerability: Criminals exploit moments of distraction, e.g. at traffic lights, driveways, or when loading and unloading passengers. ℹ️ How can you protect yourself? - Stay alert, especially when stopping in driveways, at gates, or at intersections. - Keep doors locked and windows closed whenever possible. - Be cautious of distractions. Criminals often stage minor incidents to lure you out of your vehicle. Invest in secondary deterrents like tracking devices or remote shutdown systems. #team247 #proudly247 #security #safety #247security #247securityservices 🇿🇦
